Services  /  Yearly Risk Assessment Audit

Yearly Risk Assessment Audit.
Your assessments, checked by an expert.

Your fire, health and safety and legionella risk assessments must be kept under review. The law sets no fixed interval for most premises and you can do the review yourself if you are confident. If you would rather an expert did it, David Smith or one of our accredited assessors walks your premises with your existing assessments in hand. They check the actions have been done and that nothing has changed. Then they record the review for you. £99 an assessment or £199 for all three.

What the audit covers

  • A walk round your premises with your current assessment in hand.
  • A check that every action in the action plan has been done, or a note of what is still open.
  • A check for changes. New layout, new staff, new equipment, a change of use or changes to the water system.
  • The review recorded, signed and dated, and stored in your RiskSorted account.
  • A plain answer on whether anything has changed enough to need a new assessment.

The audit reviews an assessment you already have. It does not replace it. If you do not have a current assessment you need one first.

Do it yourself or use an expert

You can review your own assessment if you are competent to. Walk the premises with the assessment in your hand. Check every action is done. Note anything that has changed and sign and date the review. If the premises or the risk has changed you need a new assessment. If you are not sure you can judge that, use an expert.

“You do this once a year and after any change. Walk the premises with the existing assessment in your hand.”

Frequently asked questions

Is a yearly audit a legal requirement?
No. The law says your risk assessments must be kept under review and updated when things change. A yearly review is good practice. You can do it yourself if you are confident or you can have an expert do it.
Can I review my own risk assessment?
Yes, if you are competent to. Walk the premises with the assessment in your hand. Check every action has been done. Note anything that has changed. Then sign and date the review. If you are not sure whether a change means you need a new assessment, that is when an expert helps.
What if the audit finds something has changed?
We tell you plainly what has changed and whether it needs a new assessment. If it does we price that separately afterwards. Nothing is booked unless you ask.
Can you audit an assessment someone else wrote?
Yes. Most audits are of assessments written by someone else. We check it against your premises as they are today.
How much does it cost?
£99 for one assessment. £199 for all three: fire, health and safety and legionella. Prices exclude VAT and are for normal working hours, Monday to Friday.
